Virginia “Chris” Muckler is an Associate Clinical Professor and the Program Director of the Duke University Nurse Anesthesia Program. She joined the Duke University School of Nursing (DUSON) in 2011 upon completion of her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Duke. Dr. Muckler is a veteran of the United States Air Force, a National League for Nursing Simulation Leader, and serves as the Co-Chair of the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) Simulation Subcommittee, on the NBCRNA’s Continued Professional Certification Airway Panel, and on committees for the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL). Dr. Muckler is a member of the Duke University Health System Institutional Review Board, has held state and national elected positions, and currently serves on boards and committees for state, national, and international organizations. Dr. Muckler serves as a reviewer for multiple journals, has served as a simulation consultant nationally and internationally, is an invited author for multiple simulation presentations, and has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. Most recently, Dr. Muckler received the 2019 American Association of Nurse Anesthetists’ Didactic Instructor of the Year Award, the 2018 Duke University Nurse Anesthesia Faculty of the Year Award, the 2016-2017 Auburn University Montgomery School of Nursing's Distinguished Alumni and was designated as a member of the Top 50 at 50 Auburn University Alumni in 2016.
