Led by GW Nursing’s Essentials Curricular Task Force, 48 faculty mapped 68 courses to the 2021 AACN Essentials, which establish standards for curriculum content and expected competencies.

At GW Nursing, DNP and PhD students took part in the school's Student Research Day on April 15. The competition showcased the research and evidence-based projects of our doctoral students. This year, 20 DNP and PhD students participated, and we are excited to share the results with you.

The George Washington School of Nursing had a strong showing at the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties' (NONPF) 50th annual conference last week in Baltimore.
Dean Susan Kelly-Weeder and several GW Nursing faculty members, including Tarnisha Hemphill, Cameron Hogg, Carol Braungart, Joyce Pulcini, Karen Whitt, Karen Kesten, Christine Pintz, Arlene Pericak, Maggie Venzke and Laurie Wilson, attended the five-day event.

Led by the GW School of Nursing’s Essentials Curricular Task Force, chaired by Vice Dean Majeda El-Banna, Ph.D., and Associate Professor Karen Kesten, D.N.P., 48 faculty mapped 68 courses to the 2021 AACN Essentials, which establish educational standards for curriculum content and expected competencies for graduates of baccalaureate, master’s, and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs.

Bachelor of Science (BSN)
Fast track your way to a career in the health professions by earning an accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Our students come from all walks of life with a variety of prior experiences. Veterans of the armed forces can receive academic credit for service to help ease the transition back to school.
Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Our Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program tracks prepare registered nurses for advanced practice roles in health care settings providing primary care for patients across the lifespan with a focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centered primary care.
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
Our Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a practice-focused doctorate designed to prepare experts in advanced nursing practice. We emphasize key nursing practice competencies and innovation, with several options for different fields of study in clinical practice, policy and leadership.
PhD in Nursing
The demand for Ph.D. nurses has never been greater. Less than 1 percent of nurses are Ph.D.-prepared researchers educated to ask critical questions and design innovative solutions to current health, health system and policy problems.
Through our PhD program, work closely with research intensive faculty who conduct clinical, educational, health services and policy research, underpinned by our commitment to health equity.

With the majority of the courses delivered online, you can enjoy the flexibility of online learning that allows you to balance your work, life and education.
RN to BSN
Through our Online RN to BSN track, students who already have an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (or an Associate of Science in Nursing) can quickly progress through the program of study while continuing to work as professional nurses.
This program is offered in an online distance-learning asynchronous format that supports finding a balance between life, family, work and school.
