Dr. Deirdre Carolan Doerflinger is a dually certified Adult and Gerontologic Nurse Practitioner. She serves as clinical assistant professor in the Conway School of Nursing at The Catholic University of America and as the SON project director of the Veteran Affairs Nursing Academic Partnership. Dr. Carolan received her nursing diploma from DePaul Hospital School of Nursing in Norfolk, her BSN, MSN and Ph. D. are from George Mason University, as is her graduate certificate in Nursing Education. Her clinical work includes Inova Fairfax Hospital as NP for the Geriatrics Team Consult Service, clinical nurse specialist for geriatrics, program coordinator for the Nurses Improving the Care of Healthsystem Elders (NICHE). She is NYU NICHE faculty and serves on their advisory board and annual conference planning committee. She has authored articles on care of the older adult, has been co-editor of the Geriatrics Nursing Review Syllabus (4th ed, 5th ed, & 6th ed). She has been recognized with NGNA National Advanced Practice Nurse of the Year and Outstanding Service Award from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy.
